The Idaho Transportation Department's (ITD) Roads and Highways Road Network Linear Referencing System (LRS) HPMS parking event polyline feature class represents the existence and characteristics of on-street parking along roadway segments, including whether parking is permitted during peak traffic periods and the total parking lane width.
The peak parking attribute indicates whether parking is allowed during the peak traffic period and, if so, on which side(s) of the roadway. It helps identify time-based restrictions that affect roadway capacity and traffic flow.
The parking width attribute measures the total width of designated parking lanes, expressed in feet, and includes the sum of widths on both sides of the roadway where applicable. This information supports roadway cross-section design, performance modeling, and right-of-way utilization studies.
Parking information is derived from field inventories, local parking ordinances, and roadway design records. Data are reviewed and updated annually as part of ITD’s Highway Performance Monitoring System (HPMS) submittal to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
